breaking the silence
I find myself in an abandoned warehouse
which has been squatted by some
sound-system terrorists and a thousand
or so of their friends for the night.
I'm up top watching a dj go crazy on the decks...
mashing it up...
A heavily made up and
partially shaved headed woman comes on...
she shuts it down bringing in a bass drone.
The packed floor readies themselves for
some more of those danceable rhythms...
these never came instead the crowd was
assaulted by extreme noise terror
and rapid fire beats.
Hard fast loud...
Merzbow like screaming disturbance
with a few broken break beats
thrown in.
Needless to say the floor emptied with
fingers in ears...
the mostly teen audience was not up for it.
Try reterritorialising these sounds!
Some danced,
but hardly to the beats aimed at them,
or if so not for long.
Digital Hardcore.
I've seen her play this stuff at Kreature
amongst the chilled out Tuesday all nighters.
She just sat there throwing this insanity out,
without a care in the world!
Fucking speed/noise/terror freak!
Who is she?
