3. "It's loud, very loud...This music doesn't just assault your ears; it invests your entire body. It grasps you in a physical embrace, sliding over your skin, penetrating your orifices, slipping inside you and squeezing your internal organs...beyond the aggression of the sheer noise, this music is somehow welcoming, inviting, even caressing..." I'm playing Keiji Haino - that psych monster and hurdy-gurdy man, that microphone terrorist and phycheldelic mystic... the Prince of Noise even. Guitars scream and wail, throb and pulse, shudder. What noise! Some music refuses to be ignored. I'm playing this as part of a lecture at COFA. Within seconds of cranking it up there's a complaint from next door...an aggressive one. Apparently the gallery attendant doesn't like it. Your not meant to like it! I suggest she puts her fingers in her ears... A few minutes later the doors to the theatre are slammed. Like I say some music refuses to be ignored! . p f e Caleb K
